“Our seniors are the ones who have borne the burden of building and maintaining this country, yet sometimes it seems like the federal government is waging war against them. Seniors in this congressional district remember that my office worked very hard for 15 years to help them deal with their challenges with government red tape and bureaucracy. I was the Author and Prime Sponsor of H.R. 1058, the Seniors Financial Security Act. This important bill will amend the Internal Revenue Code to repeal all income taxes on social security income. Seniors have already paid income tax on the amounts of money they pay into Social Security. I believe it is outrageous that they also have to pay income taxes again on their Social Security benefits at a time when they are retired and are often least able to afford it. Ultimately, I want to continue to do for seniors what I always wanted for my own mother and father, protection from financial hardship, from crime, from open borders, from runaway inflation, from a massive and growing debt that threatens to bankrupt the Social Security system, from weaponized government, a weakened United States military, and protecting their right to have as much control as possible over their retirement, their Medicare, their healthcare, and their own lives.”

- Congressman Franks was the Author and Prime Sponsor of H.R. 1058, the Seniors Financial Security Act. This important bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to repeal the income tax on social security income.
- Trent fought to successfully force significant market-based reforms into the Medicare drug prescription program to drive down those costs for seniors and taxpayers. Those market reforms were critical to the survival of the entire Medicare program.
- Trent worked tirelessly to break up anti-free market provisions in the drug reimportation laws which placed a heavy financial burden on American seniors.
